One might think it immutable. Fixed.

CLOSE UP on the Shinigami King's fingers hovering over a spectral name inscribed on an ethereal Death Note. The name glows faintly.
SHINIGAMI KING (V.O.)
But even the laws of life and death… can be… edited.

The Shinigami King brings the eraser down onto the glowing name. There's a silent flash of green light, like a negative image of lightning. The name instantly vanishes.

The balance… it has been disturbed. Not by one fool… but by many. Their petty games with humanity…

Darkness.
A cold embrace.
Then… nothing.
Until now.

Light’s eyes snap open. They are wide with confusion and intense intelligence. He takes a sharp, ragged breath.
LIGHT (V.O.)
The warehouse… a distinct memory…
My end.
And yet… I feel… alive.

Light slowly rises, testing his revived muscles.
LIGHT (V.O.)
This isn't an illusion. This isn't hell.
My wounds… gone.
My body… whole.

RYUK floats casually above Light, grinning and munching on an apple.
